The history of the traditional Japanese kite, the Rokkaku, can be traced back for many hundreds of years and are today used extensively as very stable lifting platforms or more importantly fighting kites! The idea when fighting is to cut your opponents flying lineor bridle to cause their kite to float to the earth.
